Amiodarone PH&T is the generic of CORDARONE (Sanofi - Synthelabo).

Amiodarone hydrochloride belongs to the class of Vaughan-Williams Class III anti-arrhythmic agents. It is one of the most important anti-arrhythmic drugs, active also when other treatments have already failed.

INDICATION

• Amiodarone iv is indicated only for the treatment of severe rhythm disorders not responding to other therapies or when other treatments cannot be used.

• Tachyarrhythmias associated with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome.

• All types of tachyarrhythmias including: supraventricular, nodal and ventricular tachycardias; atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation; ventricular fibrillation; when other drugs cannot be used.

The injection is to be used when a rapid response is required.
