Nifedipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, with a coronary and peripheral vasodilating activity.The sustained-release formulation achieves controlled delivery of nifedipine allows for a once-daily administration and provides smooth pressure control without sudden fluctuations in blood concentrations that trigger adverse cardiac events .
