Calcitriol PDF Print

Calcitriol PH&T is the generic of CALCIJEX (Abbott).

Calcitriol is the active form of vitamin D found in the body (1,25(OH)2D3), essential for the absorption of calcium from the gut. Calcitriol injection has been shown to be effective in the management of hypocalcaemia in patients undergoing dialysis for chronic renal failure and of secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic renal disease by facilitating calcium absorption from the gut and direct suppression of PTH production with subsequent improvement of osteodystrophy.
