Somatostatin PH&T is the generic of STILAMIN (Serono)

Somatostatin (also known as growth hormone inhibiting hormone (GHIH) or somatotropin release-inhibiting factor (SRIF)) is a peptide hormone that regulates the endocrine system. Clinically it induces a splanchnic vasodilation that allows an efficient treatment of bleeding ulcers: thanks to its therapeutic profile, somatostatin is regarded as first-line intervention in gastro-intestinal haemorrhages.
