Exemestane

Exemestane PH&T is the generic of AROMASIN (Sanofi - Pfizer).

Exemestane is an oral steroidal aromatase inhibitor used in the adjuvant treatment of hormonally-responsive (also called hormone-receptor-positive, estrogen-responsive) breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

PRESENTATION
Coated tablets 25mg

INDICATION

• Adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with oestrogen receptor positive invasive early breast cancer, following 2 – 3 years of initial adjuvant tamoxifen therapy.
• Treatment of advanced breast cancer in women with natural or induced postmenopausal status whose disease has progressed following anti-oestrogen therapy.

New: At ASCO meeting 2011, the NCIC CTG MAP3 study results showed that Exemestane significantly reduced invasive and pre-invasive breast cancers in postmenopausal women at increased risk for breast cancer with no serious toxicities.
Exemestane should be considered a new option for primary prevention of breast cancer.
