Megestrol PH&T is the generic of MEGACE (BMS)

Megestrol acetate is a synthetic derivative of the naturally occurring steroid hormone, progesterone, that exerts significant anti-oestrogenic effects limiting the progression of advanced breast and endometrial carcinoma.

It also acts on improving appetite and weight gain, and thus the patient’s quality of life.

INDICATIONS

Treatment of anorexia (loss of appetite), cachexia (severe malnutrition), and/or significant weight loss in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
Treatment of certain hormone dependent neoplasms, such as endometrial or breast cancer.
