Turbospin® is the registered trademark of the Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI) designed and patented by PH&T for effective drug delivery to the lungs. Turbospin® is a class I medical device – CE marked according to the Directive 93/42/EEC. Turbospin® is a breath-activated, reusable DPI that works with single unit capsule (containing powders) requiring to be loaded into the device each time prior to use. - PH&T has developed two versions of the inhaler: · the original Turbospin® #2 suitable for housing capsule size 2; · the more recent Turbospin® #3 that accommodates capsule size 3.
The remarkable advantages of Turbospin® are the following: · Therapeutic dose uniformity: it utilizes capsules containing a weighted amount of drug as opposed to volumetric multidose inhalers, which cannot guarantee a precise and identical dosage in repeated administrations. The easy loading and unobtrusive shape makes it very user friendly for the patients. · Economical: all the plastic component of Turbospin® are produced using a single medical grade polypropylene, thus making any incompatibility test easier and cheaper. · Industrial manufacturing flexibility: the device can be included in the package with the capsules or sold separately. This allows maximum flexibility in the marketing strategy. The blister capsules allow the modification of packaging size along with the market demand.
